two very interesting movies are planned under title

Contemporary Short and Documentary Movies from Serbia:
"Rough Cut Lives" and "Casting"

Screening will take place at The Avalon Theater,
5612 Connecticut Avenue, NW, Chevy Chase, Washington, DC
starting at 6:00 PM, Sunday, March 26, 2006.

Movies are with english sub-titles.

The suggested donation is $10 per person. All donations
are tax deductible and will be used for future activities of
The Orfelin Circle - presentation of Serbian culture and
its interaction with other cultures.

"Rough Cut Lives" a film by Dragana Martinovic

(duration 65 minutes) (2002)

Film follows the everyday lives of four persons (all,
aged between 24 and 30) who are facing the crucial
moments of their lives: they are all supposed to
leave their parents - everyone in his own way,
spiritually or physically. Each of the heroes carries
within himself the conflicts which are the
manifestation of the general problem of the lonely
person in a crowd of the individuals suffering
because of the discrepancy between desires and



"Casting" - A South-East Europe transition film by Goran Radovanovic (2003)

(duration 52 minutes) (2002)

Sex, survival, Serbia, pantyhose ... what do they have
in common? The girls that came for a part in the
pantyhose commercial with the slogan: "The Most
Beautiful step in Europe! Panties for Every Occasion:
Eurolook finally in Serbia Too!" suddenly became
protagonists of a full length documentary entitled
Casting reflecting the problems of transition societies.
