Serbian Film Festival Washington D.C. 2024


First Serbian Film Festival in Washington D.C. was held from October 16 to October 20, 2024.

This very important event was made possible thanks to the young forces of Orfelin Circle and many volunteers who brought fresh energy and breath of fresh air. The long-term goal of of this manifestation is to promote Serbian culture and contemporary Serbian film.

Jasminka Petrovic in Washington D.C.


Orfelin Circle, in cooperation with Serbian Orthodox Church Saint Luka in Washington, held creative workshops led by our famous writer Jasminka Petrović. Workshops were organized on March 9 in our church hall from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. for children aged 3 to 9.

Children over 10 and elders saw the movie "How I Learned to Fly" based on Jasminka's book. After the showing Jasminka had workshop with attenders.

Movie "How I Learned to Fly" with English subtitle, classified GP, was shown on March 8 in Washington D.C.

Documentary film "Šaban Bajramović - My Journey"


Those who joined us for the film screening were greeted by the Orfelin Circle board members and Željko Mirković, the movie director, who chated with the audience.

This film by the award-winning director Dr. Željko Mirković, produced by Optimistic Film and co-produced by the Nisville Jazz Festival, has so far won the Award for Best Feature Documentary at the International Gold Awards New York, USA, and the Jury Award for Feature Documentary at the Indian Independent Film Festival, Kolkata, India.

On June 25, 2004 Orfelin Circle hosted Saban Bajramovic and his five piece band. With this extraordinary event we will close our story about the King of Roma music.
